BIOGRAPHY

In 1993, having successfully completed my studies in communications and media at the University of Lima ( Peru ) I took an intensive course in photography. I then began to work as a fashion photographer, I have won awards and prizes in several Peruvian fashion photography contests. I have developed catalogs, exhibitions, portfolios, fashion editions and work extensively with “avant-garde” designers and non conventional models in Peru’s fashion context.

I have been influenced by movies, modern dance, and T.V. music videos. My art is essentially concerned with color. I work primarily with naturally lighting effects, film processing and printing techniques. In the late 1990's I began working more on portraits for musicians, writers, actors, weddings and advertising photography.
I came to New York in 1999 and began producing party and social portraits. I introduce the use of computer design and touch-up techniques, continuing my overall interest in color.

Last July I won the annual ''2005 Brassai Award'' , Gay Photography Contest " Taking Control of the Body", organized by the Encounter with the ARTS (ECARTE) in Lima - Peru.

I am currently working on personal projects concerning portraits of people. I want my work to be the media through which I reveal humans as the main characters in images that I construct from my imagination, or in other occasions, that I might have fortuitiously bumped into during my everyday life. I don’t censor myself when something comes to mind. I don’t worry about what others will think when I create and ellaborate my ideas. The images are created by me, and the spectator has the liberty to interpret and determine what he wants to see in them in a personal way. Liberty is then total, for me as a creator and the audience as the beholders.
